For a student to be considered for admission to ACS, all the following items must be submitted:
1. Completed Admissions Application.
2. Copy of birth certificate, current immuniztion and social security card MUST be with Admissions
Packet.
3. Most recent report card and records of progress from previous school.
4. Completed Academic Referral form from previous school.
5. Completed Discipline form from previous school.
Once all the above items have been submitted, the enrollment process will proceed as follows:
1. Student successfully completes academic placement test.
2. Parent and student interview with Administration.
3. Parent pays all enrollment fees. (New Student Fee, Registration Fee, Testing Fee)
4. Parent and Student read carefully and agree to all policies in the ACS handbook.
Enrollment is not official until all of the above have been completed and enrolling student has been accepted by ACS.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Those entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 30th. Those entering first grade must be six years old on or before September 30th.
HOME SCHOOL COMPLIANCE
We welcome students involved in home study programs. Please carefully review our simple guidelines in regard to enrollment and acceptance of home study credits. This section also covers students who are transferring from non-accredited schools. ACS has established the following guidelines:
HOME SCHOOL ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
The placement of the student must be substantiated by submitting all of the following documents.
1. A complete outline of each of the subjects taught during the previous year.
2. A list of books/materials used.
3. Copies of the student's work.
4. Copies of the student's standardized test results. One of the following are will satisfy this criteria.
A) Verification
that the child took the state basic skills test and scored at or above
the state performance standard as established by the State Board of
Elementary and Secondary Education for his/her grade level.
B) Or
verification that the child has taken the California Achievement Test,
Stanford Achievement Test -- or standardized examinations which are
approved by the State Board.
*The
child must have scored at or above his/her grade level or show
progression at a rate equal to one grade level of each year in home
study.
5.
A statement by third parties who have observed the child's
progress---preferably a certified teacher at the child's grade level,
stating that they have examined the program being taught and that in
his/her professional opinion this child is being taught in accordance
with a sustained curriculum of quality at least equal to that offered
by public schools at the grade level.
6. As with all new ACS students, home school students must take a placement test before enrolling at ACS.
Assembly
Christian School reserves the right to place a student on probation
(length determined by administration) upon enrollment for the purposes
of evaluating whether the student will fit into the rigors of our
curriculum. A transfer student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average
to continue attendance at ACS after the probation period.
