Choir

A Classical Experience with a Biblical Approach

All ACS choir programs are intentionally directed to each child’s spiritual growth. We believe music and song are a form of worship. Introducing students to this concept at a young age, and reinforcing throughout their school career, is vital to their spiritual walk with God. We emphasize that music is a form of worship that can be shown from the inside out.

Our students  will learn advanced sight reading skills, produce a professional-like tone quality, learn valuable communication and leadership skills, will continue to develop solo voices and ranges, and master the performance skills used in a professional setting. Students will sing a variety of works including modern pop and rock, contemporary choral pieces, and classical choral works. The ACS Choir is directed by Mrs. Joy Broussard.

Lower Division (1st-5th)

1st-5th grade has choir practice several times a week where students learn proper performance etiquette, stage performance and how to worship through song. We also prepare for our annual Christmas and Spring Concerts in this class.

Upper Division (6th-8th)

6th-8th grade has choir practice several times a week where students learn proper performance etiquette, stage performance and how to worship through song. We also prepare for our annual Christmas and Spring Concerts in this class.

Upper Division (9th-12th)

The ACS High School Choir is made up of 9th-12th grade students and is an important part of our Creative Ministry Arts program. Students earn 1 carnige credit and learn proper performance etiquette, stage performance and how to worship through song. We also prepare for our annual Christmas and Spring Concerts in this class.

Semi-Annual Performances

Christmas Musical

This celebration of Christmas performed by our elementary, middle school and high school students is a guaranteed crowd pleaser! The Christmas musical is a full length production with sets, props, costumes, singing, acting and dancing. Produced by our Media Arts class and Tech Support Club, the production includes performances by the Elementary Choir and Middle School Choir with special roles from our HS Choir. Media Arts class and Tech Support Club assist with sound, lighting and video production. The musical is available for 3 live showings the first weekend in December.

Spring Program

The Spring performances are fun and biblically based, giving students an opportunity to display their hard work in music, choir and performing arts, while learning a valuable biblical principle or life lesson. The program is available for live virtual viewing and video recordings may be available for purchase.

Competitions

The ACS Choir also participates in many other activities throughout the year such as, District Honor Choir, All-State Honor Choir, Large Ensemble Festival, ACEL Fine-Arts Festival and Spring Concert.
